Friends,

COVID is a pandemic and there is no room for political games. But at his rally this weekend, President Trump made it clear he's more focused on his political campaign than making the nation safer.

Two months ago, I requested that FEMA open a testing center in South Jersey. I received an answer that was alarming. Not only was my request denied, but I was told that the White House had issued guidance to reject any requests for federally-backed test sites across the country.

Now we know why. At his rally in Tulsa this weekend, President Trump said, "I said to my people, slow the testing down."

Mr. President, testing is not as you described, “a double-edged sword." When this pandemic was infecting thousands every day in New Jersey, we needed as much testing as we could get, but we didn’t get the help we needed. And as we see cases spiking again across this country there is no way forward without more testing. I serve on the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis and I see how critical testing is for our nation. Our children can’t go back to school, our neighbors can’t go back to work, and we can’t safely reopen without accurate and widespread testing.

If the President and his administration do not support efforts to maximize testing because they worry about the perception of growing numbers of positive cases, he is putting lives in danger. And I am ready to hold him accountable.

But speaking truth to power hasn't made me very popular with national Republicans and they're trying as hard as they can to beat me in November. Their super PACs are spending millions of dollars in my district to replace me with someone who will be a rubber stamp for Trumpism.

I'm going to keep fighting to get more testing, hold Trump accountable, and help working families, but I need to ask you to step up, too. Our grassroots campaign surprised everyone in 2018, but I need your support again if we're going to beat back the flood of outside money in 2020.

Please, donate $5 or more now to keep this campaign running so we can continue to be a check on President Trump.
