Pride Month may be over, but the fight for true equality is far from finished.
Just weeks ago, Oklahoma’s governor signed House Bill 1217, a cruel new law targeting drag performers under the false guise of “protecting children.”
HB 1217 is vague, dangerous, and designed to silence free expression and push 2SLGBTQ+ people back into the shadows. But communities in Oklahoma aren’t backing down, and neither are we.
At Groundwork Project, we’re proud to support organizers on the ground who are still dancing, still protesting, and still showing up for queer liberation.
But if we’re going to keep this momentum going in Oklahoma and across the South, we need your help. Can you pitch in today to help us protect 2SLGBTQ+ rights all year long? [[link removed]]

Right now, drag artists are being threatened with jail time for performing in public, even at Pride festivals. Republican leaders are criminalizing queer joy while ignoring the real issues their constituents face: poverty, underfunded schools, crumbling infrastructure, and lack of health care.
This is exactly why Groundwork Project exists: to invest in the communities these lawmakers all too often try to silence. To build power in places they’ve written off. To fight back against bigotry — not just in June, but every single day.
We hope you’ll stand with us in supporting our queer and trans neighbors.
In solidarity,
Groundwork Project
