Science Panel to discuss the 2025 Puget Sound State of the Sound report

The Puget Sound Partnership Science Panel will meet at Parrington Hall, Room 160, 4105 George Washington Lane, Seattle, WA 98195 and online on *Wednesday, July 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m*.

Meeting highlights include:
* A presentation and discussion about 2025 legislative session and priorities for the 2026 legislative session. Presentation by Don Gourlie, legislative policy director at the Puget Sound Partnership. *Read more [ [link removed] ].*
* A presentation about the status of priority federal polices and appropriations related to Puget Sound recovery. Presentation by Ahren Stroming, special assistant for federal affairs at the Puget Sound Partnership. *Read more [ [link removed] ].*
* A presentation and discussion about findings from 2023-2025 Puget Sound Scientific Research projects, to implement the Science Work Plan for 2020-2024. They will also introduce projects about to get underway this summer or later in the year, to implement the Science Work Plan for 2025-2029. Presentation by Scott Redman, science director at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Laura Rivas, assistant science director at the Puget Sound Partnership. * A two-part presentation and work session for the Science Panel to discuss, draft, and finalize their comments for the 2025 State of the Sound report. Presentation by Scott Redman, science director at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Laura Rivas, assistant science director at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Kenna Khun, vital signs reporting analyst and discussion led by co-vice chairs, Grant Blume and Ani Jayakaran. * A discussion about values on the Science Panel and how to prepare to welcome new members at the October 2025 meeting. Discussion led by co-vice chairs, Grant Blume and Ani Jayakaran.
* A presentation on the findings and recommendations from Phase 1 of the Human Wellbeing Vital Signs and Indicators Revisions project. The presentation will include a report on multiple components of Phase 1, as well as an overview of plans for Phase 2 of the project. Presentation by Rebecca Hollender, social sciences coordinator at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Mike Chang and Mary Ann Rozance from Cascadia Consulting. *Read more [ [link removed] ].*
* A presentation on the Future Scenarios project, including recent work and improvements to the model to date. Discussion will focus on Science Panel advice and direction regarding next steps for Future Scenarios work overall.
