Chris Deluzio for Congress

133 years ago this month, the fight for workers’ rights reached a boiling point in Homestead, in Western Pennsylvania.

On July 6, 1892, after days of workers striking to defend their union, steelworkers at Carnegie’s mill in Homestead stood their ground against Pinkerton agents sent to break the strike.

The battle left three Pinkerton agents and seven workers dead. Days later the National Guard was sent in to take control of the town and to crush the strike—causing the union to collapse.

What followed was devastating: workers’ wages were slashed, hours were increased, and Carnegie Steel’s profits soared.

John, this took place 133 years ago, but this story is all too familiar today.

Today, corporate power runs rampant, and union-busting tactics are more commonly used than ever before to stop workers from exercising their right to unionize.

As a former union organizer himself, Chris Deluzio is leading the charge in Congress to defend workers and ensure everyone has the opportunity to join and form a union. He knows what’s at stake, and he’s not backing down from the fight. If you believe in the power of unions and the dignity of work, chip in to help Chris continue the fight for unions and workers →

Here in Western Pennsylvania, Chris knows that unchecked corporate power has grown and that union busting has hurt our workers and hollowed out our towns.

He knows how anti-union “Right-to-Work” laws in other states haven’t just weakened organized labor—they’ve driven down wages, stripped away benefits, and undercut the strength and stability of our region’s workforce and economy.

Chris fought for a union at the University of Pittsburgh. And he knows the power of solidarity.

That’s why he’s fighting back against the out-of-control corporate power hurting our workers and destroying our towns. In Congress, he’s working to make it easier for workers to join a union and engage in collective bargaining—and he needs you with him in this fight, John.

If you stand with Chris and want to continue the fight for dignity and respect for all workers, chip in now to help Chris defend unions and protect workers’ rights in Congress →
