I hope this message finds you in the best of health and Iman.

I know it is a difficult time for many, and an uncertain time still. I am firm in my belief that we will overcome our challenges and be stronger for it, but the hard work is ahead of us, and so is the reward.

From an operational perspective, MLFA scaled back its Ramadan fundraising goals and focused on securing enough funds to sustain our current case loads through the pandemic. Alhamdulillah, by the Grace of God and through your generous support, we were able to raise $1.4 million towards our $2 million goal.

I wanted to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks. You have given us the ability to continue pursuing justice at a most crucial time for civil rights.

From an organizational perspective, MLFA shifted its priorities to digitize its efforts in lieu of events, and CLCMA adapted its work to accommodate the Courts and their clients. Though the methods may have changed, the mission remains the same, and as important and necessary as ever.

We are becoming more cognizant and concerned about the systemic injustice that has been laid bare for all to see at the intersection of 38th & Chicago in Minneapolis over the course of 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

The systems of injustice against Blacks, Muslims, and other minorities all intersect in the pages of history. They stem from the same tainted roots of racism, and having gone largely unchecked, branched out and intertwined into the twisted system we see today that presumes that people of color need to be surveilled, searched, criminalized, controlled... or killed.

The fight for justice is the fight for the future of America. There is so much work to be done.
