# [#]Friend,
Over the past few days, Texas’s Hill Country has been devastated by catastrophic flash flooding, overwhelming towns along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, just north of San Antonio.
At least 89 people have tragically lost their lives — including at least 27 children, many of whom were attending local summer camps nearby. Dozens more are still missing, and local and state search and rescue efforts remain ongoing.
I’m heartbroken by the terrible loss of life and scale of devastation. My wife Ana and I are praying for our fellow Texans and those impacted by this unimaginable tragedy – and we are deeply grateful for the heroic first responders and volunteers working around the clock to locate the missing and support survivors.
My office continues to monitor local conditions and coordinate with officials on the potential impact here in the 20th District.
Just last month, flash flooding in San Antonio claimed the lives of 13 people. Floods like this were once considered once-in-a-generation — but in recent years, they’ve become far too frequent, with devastating consequences for our communities.
We must do everything in our power to ensure a tragedy like this never happens again – including investigating the forecasting and response to the storm. But right now, our top priority must be supporting the search and rescue efforts underway across the region.
If you’re in a position to help, the Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country is directing donations to vetted organizations engaged in rescue, relief, and recovery efforts. You can make a donation to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund by clicking here. [[link removed]]

Much of Texas still faces the risk of flash flooding this week – including Llano County, just north of Kerr. I urge everyone in the region to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and follow guidance from local officials.
In moments like these, Texans have always come together to lift each other up. Let's do everything we can to support the families and communities who need us now.
Thank you,
-Joaquin
