A budget is never just a budget: it’s also a tangible indication of what a party’s priorities, values, and loyalties are.
By passing Trump’s devastating budget last week, MAGA politicians showed us once again that they stand with corporations and the ultra-wealthy, not with working families.
This legislation bars healthcare centers that provide abortion from accepting Medicaid reimbursements for any other reproductive healthcare, including things like STI testing, cancer screenings, and contraception.
Make no mistake: this is a targeted attack on Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers, and it will have catastrophic consequences for abortion access in red and blue states alike.
Almost 200 Planned Parenthood clinics in 24 states could close as a direct result of this legislation—and 90% of those clinics are in states where abortion is still legal.
That would leave more than one million patients without access to care.
This budget amounts to a back-door abortion ban—but the truth is, many voters still don’t know about the attacks this legislation contains. That’s why we’ve launched a rapid-response campaign to educate voters in battleground districts about how their representatives voted on this bill.
Across every state, reproductive freedom is overwhelmingly popular. The MAGA politicians who passed this bill chose to side with their billionaire funders over the will of the people, throwing their constituents to the wolves.
