Hi John,
I could never have predicted that in 2020, the year we get the chance to defeat Trump, I'd be obsessed with mail. Yes, "snail mail." That's because my background is in digital communications in voter outreach. I've been fortunate enough to work as a digital director for several cycles: in Michigan, for Sylvester Turner in Houston, Jason Kander in Missouri, and for Let America Vote. I've been posting and tweeting my way through Democratic campaigns for nearly a decade.
But this year, it's all about mail. Why? Because we need mail to make sure millions more people can vote safely in 2020.
If 2020 is the year of mail, then we must protect the U.S. Postal Service. It's scheduled to run out of money by September. Sign your name to urge Congress to fully fund the Postal Service.
Just this morning, Trump went on the offense, screaming (on Twitter, of course) about his opposition to vote-by-mail, even though Trump and his family have voted by mail in the past. It's good enough for them but not for a broad group of Americans who want to vote and protect their health in 2020.
We're seeing COVID-19 cases increase across regions of the country, and we have no idea what the health landscape will be like in November. More than ever, we need the U.S. Postal Service to vote safely by mail.
Stand up for vote-by-mail and the U.S. Postal Service. Add your name so Americans can cast their ballots by mail this fall.
Let's make 2020 the year of mail and ensure the U.S. Postal Service is funded well into the future. We need it for our health and our democracy.
Thank you,
Suzy Smith
