Dear Georgian,

249 years ago, our forefathers declared our independence from a tyrannical ruler and created the United States of America.

Since that moment, the United States has stood as a beacon of freedom, liberty, justice, and democracy for the entire world. We have a beautiful and rich history, and on the 4th of July, we spend time with our friends and family, and we celebrate that amazing history. We are grateful for the amazing people that helped build this country and we remember the sacrifices that so many have made to defend it.

I hope that everyone throughout Georgia's Eighth District was able to spend time with their family, enjoy good food, see some fireworks, and that we all were able to take a moment to thank those that laid down their lives so that we may continue to celebrate our nation's birthday. Happy Independence Day!

Last week, the House of Representatives sent the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act to President Trump’s desk with my support. This legislation, that the President has signed into law, delivers historic tax relief for workers, middle-class families, farmers, and small businesses.

Our country was also rocked by tragedy last weekend. A massive flash flood in Texas resulted in a catastrophic loss of life and tremendous damage. We join together with the country in praying for those Americans that lost loved ones and for those heroes working tirelessly to save people and aid in the recovery efforts. Together, and through prayer, we will overcome this horrible disaster.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Setting the Record Straight about the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act

Last week, we passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act out of the House of Representatives, following the Senate's passage, and sent it to the President's desk to be signed into law. I spoke on the Floor of the House to set the record straight about this critical legislation.

For months, Democrats have spread misinformation about what this landmark legislation will do. In reality, we voted to prevent Georgians from seeing a 24% tax increase, the largest tax increase ever. We voted to strengthen and preserve Medicaid and Social Security, so that the most vulnerable Americans are able to rely on it.

The bill included the first reference price changes for farmers since 2014. Showing that we have the backs of the farmers that work so hard to help us feed our families. I'm happy to say that following passage, relief is on the way for our great, American farmers.

The legislation also gets rid of the radical green handouts and doubles small business expensing which will help our local businesses hire more workers and grow operations.

I am happy that Congress was able to get this done quickly so that relief can be extended to Americans across the country.

Great News For Middle Georgia State University

Last week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) signed an agreement with Middle Georgia State University to become the next school for the Enhanced Air Traffic – Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI).

Georgia's Eighth District is proud of Middle Georgia State University for becoming the next school to join the Enhanced Air Traffic - Collegiate Training Initiative, and the first program in Georgia to be authorized.

I am excited to see the continued success of MGA’s School of Aviation that will set up the next generation of our Air Traffic Controllers for excellence.
