Dear John,
Like many of you, I am working from home because of COVID-19.
Although I’m not leaving my house, as I look through my social media,
as I watch videos of the recent Black Lives Matter marches, and read
news articles, I see familiar faces everywhere and I’m celebrating the
amazing organizing happening across the country.
Grassroots leaders who have attended our training of trainers in
the past are organizing and speaking at the protests, including in
Minneapolis and Boston.
Check out this beautiful video of the
Black
Visions Collective #DefundMPD March in Minneapolis that UFE staff
and board watched together. Several participants in past UFE trainings
were involved in this protest.
Organizations like Center for Cooperative Development and
Solidarity - CCDS in East Boston that are long term UFE partners are
supporting the undocumented community that have lost their jobs from
the pandemic.
Immigrant justice organizations in the greater Boston area are also
turning to UFE to facilitate conversations about the history of
systematic racism in the US to build Black and Brown solidarity.
In the streets, on Zoom meetings, at
community meetings and in neighborhoods, the network of organizers UFE
has trained and supported are leading the way by envisioning a world
without police, without prisons, without borders, without white
supremacy, facism and capitalism.
United for a Fair Economy multiplies the impact of
community leaders and cultivates the growth of organizers most
impacted by injustice – low wage workers, immigrants, people of color,
women and LGBTQ folks – to lead movements for justice and
liberation.
For 25 years, we have been multiplying the power of the movement
for economic, racial and intersectional justice through our popular
education trainings, by building coalitions working for fair policies,
organizing wealthy people to speak out for tax justice, and through
our powerful communications such as the State of the Dream report
about the racial wealth divide. Our work is urgently needed to address
the structural inequality and racism that is deeply ingrained in our
society.
Multiply your
gift for justice TODAY and help us multiply our impact. Give
before June 30th and help us meet our goal for our fiscal year. Your
support multiplies people power.
With solidarity,
Jeannette Huezo
