It couldn’t be more clear: Republican judges are disastrous for voting rights. And that includes the Republican majority on the Supreme Court.
After John Roberts led the conservative bloc of the Court to gut the Voting Rights Act in 2013, Georgia closed 214 polling places. For this month's primary election, there were 80 fewer polling places in the metro Atlanta area, where the majority of Black voters live. Lines in Georgia stretched and snaked around block after block. In the midst of a global pandemic, people waited for hours to exercise their constitutional right to cast a ballot.
Unacceptable. We cannot let these attacks on our democratic values continue or go unanswered.
