You're reading the July edition of The JanePAC Monthly, John — and we’re bringing you a new round of major updates you don't want to miss!
From Jane taking on Amazon's dangerous labor practices to a huge JanePAC victory in Virginia, last month delivered some serious wins for our movement.
We also have some critical updates on Trump's latest attacks on weather forecasting (right as we enter hurricane season), along with some encouraging news about our public lands.
Let's dive into everything that went down. 👇
📰 JANE IN THE NEWS

Jane Fonda joined Rosario Dawson, Cynthia Nixon, Sally Field, Lily Tomlin, Chelsea Handler, and Pamela Adlon in calling out Amazon for its dangerous treatment of pregnant workers in warehouses across the country.
In a letter sent to Amazon's leadership, the actors demanded answers after pregnant workers reported being denied basic accommodations, leading to severe health complications and even miscarriages.
This is exactly the kind of corporate accountability we need more of. When companies put profits over people's health and safety, we have to call them out.
🏆 CELEBRATING A MAJOR JANEPAC VICTORY
In a MASSIVE Democratic primary upset that sent shockwaves through Virginia politics, our endorsed candidate for Attorney General, Jay Jones, defeated a Dominion Energy-backed opponent who accepted an astounding $800,000 from the state’s largest corporate polluter.
This is a big win for the climate movement — and a clear sign that voters are done letting Big Oil call the shots.
Now, Jay faces his biggest test yet: taking on Republican incumbent Jason Miyares in November's general election. We're ready to support him every step of the way.

✊ HOW WE'RE FIGHTING BACK

Republican Senator Mike Lee's proposal to auction off 1.225 million acres of our public lands just got crushed — and it happened because people like you refused to stay silent. Calls poured in from hikers, conservationists, and everyday people like you who want to protect our planet. Letters flooded Senate offices. The pressure became impossible to ignore.
Lee had no choice but to withdraw his proposal after facing a wall of opposition from his own party. When we unite, even the most powerful politicians have to back down. This is people power in action.
🌡️ HEAT INDEX TRACKER
The National Weather Service is warning of dangerous heat conditions across the country. Alaska — Alaska! — just issued its first-ever heat advisory as temperatures soar to unprecedented levels.
As we wrap up the July 4th weekend, please prioritize staying cool and hydrated. Check on elderly neighbors, keep pets indoors during peak heat hours, and never leave anyone in a parked car.
You can monitor the heat index in your area using this NYT Heat Index Tracker to stay informed about conditions where you live.
⚠️ NOAA IS UNDER ATTACK
Donald Trump is putting every American at risk by dismantling a critical weather forecasting system we rely on during hurricane season.
The Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) has supplied essential atmospheric data since the 1960s — data that NOAA uses to feed forecast models. When you see where a hurricane might land, that prediction depends in part on DMSP information. NOAA will lose access to this vital data stream by July 31, as the United States enters peak hurricane season.
Trump has already fired hundreds of NOAA employees this year, and according to a recently released budget document, he wants to eliminate ALL NOAA funding, which would close major federally funded meteorological, oceanographic, and climate labs in America — and eliminate hundreds more scientific positions.
This couldn’t be more dangerous. Congress needs to know that we won’t stop sounding the alarm: So today, we’re asking you to sign our petition to urge Congress to fully fund NOAA and restore the weather forecasting capabilities that save lives >>>
