John, It’s been a busy week, complete with late night committee hearings and celebrating our great nation’s 249th birthday, but I wanted to take a moment to update you on the important work we did this week.
I proudly voted AYE on the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) Thursday—and in true America First fashion, President Donald J. Trump signed it into law on Independence Day. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I helped craft this historic legislation that will secure our border, cut wasteful government spending, and deliver major tax relief to western Minnesota. The bill is a major win for our fundamental constitutional freedoms, too, including provisions that protect our Second Amendment rights and the dignity of human life. I applaud my House colleagues for joining me in sending the OBBB to the White House, and President Trump for issuing the final signature.
This week, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of states to block Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, a major win for the pro-life movement. Taxpayer dollars should never be used to support abortion providers. I’ve led the charge to end taxpayer-funded abortions and protect the sanctity of life through federal legislation like the Defund Planned Parenthood Act and the Protecting Life and Taxpayers Act. I am overjoyed that the OBBB contains language to block Medicaid funds from supporting Planned Parenthood. In order to exercise this state right in Minnesota, we need to elect a Republican trifecta in 2026 to overturn the disastrous Gomez state supreme court decision. My campaign team stands ready to lift my fellow Republicans next fall so we can finally end taxpayer funded abortion in Minnesota.
In another landmark decision, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a major win for parental rights. For too long, radical left-wing ideology has seeped into our students’ classrooms, fueling identity crises, confusing children with gender ideology, and keeping parents in the dark. Schools are no place for discussions around gender ideology or sexuality, much less drag queen storytime. Parents, not bureaucrats, should be guiding those conversations. That is why I voted to pass the Parents Bill of Rights Act in the previous Congress to ensure parents have a say and influence in their children’s schools without fear of repercussions. I firmly believe that parents deserve to know what their children are being taught, especially if far-left administrators continue to push a woke agenda at the expense of basic learning.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything. |
