The True Cost of Freedom

As we celebrate America’s birthday this weekend, we want to pause to honor the heroes—past and present—who have made our freedom possible, our Service Members and Veterans. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to service are the reason we can gather with pride each July 4th.

At Soldiers’ Angels, we believe that honoring our heroes means more than a single day of remembrance—it’s a mission that continues every day of the year. From care packages sent across the world to groceries loaded into the cars of local Veterans, our community of Angel volunteers show up in ways that are felt deeply and remembered long after.

On this patriotic holiday, we also want to recognize those volunteers—our Angels—for stepping up to support our nation’s heroes with compassion, creativity, and heart.

Some volunteers serve from home—baking cookies, sewing blankets, or writing letters that boost morale in the loneliest corners of deployment. Others serve on the ground, at VA hospitals or food distributions, offering a warm smile and a helping hand to Veterans who need it most. No matter the method, the impact is real: comfort in a time of hardship, connection in a moment of isolation, and gratitude where it’s often long overdue.

But we need more Angel Volunteers to answer the call. As our reach expands and the mission grows, the call for more hands on deck is louder than ever. We’re looking for the few, the brave—those ready to turn patriotism into action. If that’s you, there’s a place for you here.

🎆 Patriotic Care Packages on the Move!

Our Angel Volunteers love getting creative with themed care packages—especially for the 4th of July! From red, white, and blue treats to star-spangled decorations and handwritten notes, these festive boxes are packed with patriotic pride.

These and many more are already on their way overseas to brighten the day of deployed Service Members.

❄️ Operation: Warm Winter Is Underway! ❄️

It may be summer now, but winter will be here before we know it—and thousands of Veterans across the country will be in need.

That’s why Operation: Warm Winter officially launched on July 1, and we’re wasting no time. Our mission is simple: collect and distribute coats, gloves, blankets, hats, and dignity to homeless and at-risk Veterans before the cold sets in.

✅ Here’s how you can help:

Start a collection drive in your community, workplace, or place of worship

Make a donation to support direct purchases of warm weather gear

Shop our Amazon Wish List and ship items directly to our warehouse

🧥 Special Item Request: 250 Sleeping Bags for D.C. Veterans

This year, the Washington D.C. VA has asked for help supplying 250 sleeping bags for their upcoming Stand Down event supporting homeless and at-risk Veterans.

We've added sleeping bags to our Operation: Warm Winter Amazon Wish List [[link removed]], and we need your help to hit this goal.

Can you add one—or a few—to your cart this year?

Let’s ensure every Veteran we serve stays warm this winter.

🌴 A Taste of Home, Florida-Style

Some of our Service Members were missing the Sunshine State—so our incredible Angels got to work! They created care packages packed with love—and tropical vibes—designed to remind a deployed Florida-based unit of home. From fun snacks and festive decorations to handwritten notes, the boxes were filled with warmth and sunshine from afar.

Great job, Angels—your thoughtfulness always finds the perfect personal touch!

Celebrating New Life and Honoring Service

Beckley VA recently hosted its annual Red, White & Due event—an uplifting celebration honoring new Military-connected families, each with a parent who has served our nation.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of VA departments and community sponsors, these families received baby essentials, thoughtful gifts, and a warm embrace of support. Soldiers’ Angels proudly contributed baby onesies and Mary Kay pampering items—because every new mom deserves to feel appreciated. 💗

The event concluded with a heartfelt luncheon, recognizing the courage, commitment, and fresh beginnings these families represent.

Remembering the Korean War

It’s often called “The Forgotten War,” but we haven’t forgotten. Our recent blog explores the brutal, overlooked conflict that erupted just five years after WWII—one marked not by parades or declarations, but by frozen trenches, unspoken sacrifice, and unwavering duty.

Take a moment to honor those who served. The families divided. The stories that were never told—but should be.

Thank you for being part of the Soldiers’ Angels family and helping us serve those who’ve served us all.
