John, Donald Trump just signed one of the most devastating pieces of legislation in American history — handing billions in giveaways to oil and gas executives, slashing Medicaid, and gutting vital food assistance.
It breaks my heart that just as hurricane season begins, this law will essentially gut NOAA, the very agency that tracks extreme weather events that uproot thousands of lives each year.
It breaks my heart to think of the families who will sit in emergency rooms, unable to afford care, because their Medicaid was ripped away.
It breaks my heart to imagine rural hospitals shutting their doors, leaving entire communities without care.
It breaks my heart to see this happen – to see the President of the United States defy the sanctity of the Oval Office and knowingly sign legislation that harms the very fabric of our country.
And for what? More handouts to oil and gas CEOs? More cruelty disguised as governance?
I’ve seen a lot in my lifetime. But this moment, this deliberate, inhumane choice to sacrifice people and the planet for profit, will stay with me for the rest of my days.
Days like today push us to reflect, to look inward, and truly think about where we are as a nation and what we have to do to keep fighting for the kind of country that stands up for people and the planet.
Because here’s what I know: Even in our darkest moments, people come together. We organize. We resist. And we keep hope alive — because we have no other choice.
Now, we're organizing in key states around the country to stop Donald Trump’s reckless, deadly agenda from spreading further. And we’re already fighting like hell to take back the House in 2026.
Here’s what comes next:
Thank you for all that you do.
In solidarity,
xx Jane
