It's a Beautiful First Monday of Summer!
COVID-19 tests are being done in ever greater numbers, and more and more positive results are being found. Here's what they don't tell you: the COVID wards in our local hospitals remain empty, and the mortality rates remain flat. What that means, from a public health standpoint, is that more people than originally thought have been exposed to the disease, and have remained asymptomatic, or have had such mild symptoms as to need little or no medical care. Population density seems to be a large part of the equation in the case of this particular disease, and that works in favor of Indian River County. Nevertheless, maintain sensible precautions, especially if you have a predisposing medical condition! Distancing, masks where appropriate, frequent washing, and all the rest of the protocols SAVE LIVES!!
On the political scene, the Constitutional "right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" [N.B.: note the word "peaceably" -- it is under-reported in the media]underlies both political protests and political rallies equally. Yet somehow, we are being told that the right to political protest is much more important than the public health concerns of COVID-19, while the right to political rally is much less important than those public health concerns.
Anarchy zones need border walls, but America doesn't.
Defund the police, but they don't tell us what to do in event of emergency/crime.
We live in strange times indeed...
