Happy Pride Month everyone! While parades have been canceled this year, Pride most definitely isn’t. And at a time when so many across the country are hurting, it is more important than ever to show up and support our LGBTQ+ loved ones and their families. 

We are excited to announce our new collaboration with OREO to launch the #ProudParent platform to encourage parents of LGBTQ+ individuals to come out in loud, public support of their kids. #ProudParent is a year-long collaboration to bring awareness, encourage family affirmation, and celebrate “proud parents” who are inspiring a new generation of LGBTQ+ allies.

To kick off the collaboration, we are helping parents and allies who are not able to march alongside their LGBTQ+ family members to show their support virtually.

There are lots of ways to participate:

Facebook: 

• Add a #ProudParent (or Proud Ally) frame to your Facebook profile photo.
• Add a #ProudParent (or Proud Ally) sticker to your Facebook story. When you create your story, click "Stickers," then "GIFs," and search on "PFLAG" to add yours!

Instagram: 

• Try the new Instagram filter that pays tribute to signs carried by proud PFLAG parents at historical Pride marches—such as Jeanne Manford’s iconic 1972 sign--and allows users to use the AR filter to virtually “hold” a sign in support of their loved ones. Check out the filters here, with a variety of historical #ProudParent (and Proud Ally) signs, to add to your profile. And be sure to check out Sung Tse, co-president of PFLAG San Gabriel Valley API, as the face of the filter! Just visit Oreo's Instagram profile from your mobile device and click on the filter effects icon (the little face with the stars on it) to check out Sung's demo!
