Happy Fourth of July!
Today, I’m reflecting on what it means to truly be an American — and what it means to belong to a community that never gives up on each other.
At our best, we look out for one another. We stand up for our neighbors. We defend the rights and freedoms that defined this country and we pass those values on to the next generation.

This year, that commitment and spirit matter more than ever. Our democracy, our fundamental rights and our deepest values are all on the line.
But I believe in what we can do together. I believe in our power to protect our freedoms, strengthen our communities and build a future that honors our deepest values. I believe in us.
More than anything, I believe that this moment is about family. About making sure our children and grandchildren inherit a world that values fairness and compassion for everyone.
So today, as we celebrate our independence, let’s also recommit to the work ahead — let’s keep showing up for one another and for the country we love.
With hope,
Kirsten
