Dear John,
As we celebrate Independence Day, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who partnered with Family Research Council over the past few weeks -- because of your prayers, your generosity, and your commitment to truth, I'm grateful to report that we finished our fiscal year-end right on target.
Whether you gave or prayed, your partnership matters. You are part of a growing movement of believers dedicated to restoring America to the truth that made our nation free.
Jesus said in John 8:31-32, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
This Independence Day marks the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence -- a bold statement not only of political liberty but of spiritual conviction. Our Founding Fathers understood that true freedom is rooted in the truth of God. They appealed to "the laws of nature and of nature's God," and they staked their cause on a "firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence." Religious freedom wasn't incidental to the American experiment -- it was central. And on this Independence Day, we are reminded that preserving liberty for future generations depends on remembering and defending our nation's spiritual foundation.
This is the freedom FRC is working to defend every day -- not freedom as license for sin, but as the ability to honor God in thought, word, and deed.
Just as Moses stood before Pharaoh and declared, "Let my people go, that they may serve Me," we are reminding America that freedom comes with responsibility and a purpose: to worship the Lord, live by His commands, and pass that truth down to the next generation.
President and Founding Father John Adams famously warned, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." He was right. Without faith and virtue, freedom collapses into sin and chaos.
America's future depends on our faithfulness to that truth. That's why FRC is boldly bringing biblical truth into the halls of government, the classroom, the media, and the home. And with your continued support, we will do so with confidence and hope -- not grounded in politics, but in the eternal Word of God.
This July 4th, may we celebrate not only the freedom we enjoy, but the spiritual foundation that makes it possible. Thank you for being part of this mission.
