The past several weeks in Harrisburg have been a flurry of budget negotiations as we work to finalize a plan for the new fiscal year. And I’ve been fighting for a vision rooted in the ideals that were born right here in Pennsylvania—the birthplace of American freedom and democracy.
When our Founders gathered in this Commonwealth 249 years ago, they did not envision a bloated bureaucracy that burdened the people. They saw a nation of free people, empowered to thrive with limited government interference.
That’s the vision I’m fighting for today. In this budget, we must do more to uphold that legacy—by reining in runaway spending, holding the line on taxes, and crafting policies that promote growth, fairness, and freedom for every Pennsylvanian.
As I’ve said many times before, Pennsylvania is at a crossroads. Will we follow the failed model of states like New York—where taxes are high, regulation is crushing, and families are leaving in droves? Or will we choose the proven path of states like Texas and Florida—where opportunity expands, freedom flourishes, and prosperity grows?
A Clear Choice: Freedom vs. Socialism
The recent primary victory of socialist Zohran Mamdani in New York City is a stark reminder of the growing threat we face. Here in Pennsylvania, Democratic Socialists are not just knocking on the door—they’re already inside, holding office and pushing their dangerous agenda.
Let me be crystal clear: I strongly oppose socialism in any form—locally, statewide, or nationally. Everywhere it has been tried, socialism has brought economic ruin, loss of freedom, and human misery. Its false promises may sound appealing, especially to the young or disillusioned, but they always lead to the same place: stagnation, dependence, and decline.
The rise of openly socialist voices gives us a powerful opportunity to draw a bold line in the sand. We must present a clear, compelling alternative—a vision rooted in the free market, personal liberty, strong families, and limited government. This is the American way. It is the path to prosperity. And it is the legacy we must defend, especially as we celebrate our nation’s founding this week.

Our State House is divided by a single seat—102 Democrats to 101 Republicans—and only 15 to 20 districts, many right here in suburban communities like ours, will determine control of the legislature in the years to come.
