John,

Every Fourth of July, I think about what it means to live in a place like Staten Island. This is a place where neighbors look out for one another, community runs deep, and people work hard for what they believe in.

As a public school teacher, as a basketball coach, and now as a candidate for Congress, I am proud to call Staten Island home. And I carry that Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn spirit with me every day: tough, proud, resilient.

This day is about more than fireworks and cookouts (though you better believe I’m grabbing a plate of ribs). It’s about the promise of America — a country where your voice matters, where we strive to build a better future, and where stories like mine are possible.

So wherever you are catching a parade, manning the grill, or just enjoying a quiet moment, I hope you’ll have a great Fourth. And I hope it reminds you of what’s worth holding onto in this country we all share.

Enjoy the Fourth. Stay safe. Talk soon.
