Happy Independence Day, Minnesota!
 Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Happy Independence Day!
Now, I may be Irish by heritage, but I bleed American red, white, and blue—especially on the Fourth of July! This day marks the birth of the greatest experiment in liberty the world has ever known. Two hundred and forty-nine years ago, our Founding Fathers took a bold stand, signed their names to a piece of paper, and told the most powerful empire on Earth: “We’ll take it from here.”
That kind of guts? Well, it’s the same spirit that built Minnesota’s towns, farms, small businesses, and families—brick by brick, field by field, and generation after generation.
Today, we honor the patriots who sparked the flame of freedom—and all those who’ve kept it burning bright. From soldiers to sheriffs, firefighters to teachers, and every hardworking American in between, our independence is something we defend not just with words, but with action, service, and sacrifice.
So whether you're watching a parade or grilling brats, watching fireworks, or chasing kids with sparklers (carefully, of course!), I hope you take a moment to appreciate what a blessing it is to call this country home.
We may have our quirks, but America is still the shining city on a hill. And I, for one, wouldn’t trade her for all the gold in Ireland.
God bless you, God bless Minnesota, and God bless the United States of America!
Sláinte and Happy Independence Day!
Sincerely,
Representative Joe McDonald
Minnesota House of Representatives, District 29A
