John — This Independence Day is a challenging one in the face of Donald Trump’s extreme administration, but it’s more important now than it’s ever been before to reaffirm our commitment to our democracy, independence, and freedom for all.

Our democracy isn’t given, John, we must fight for it; in every election, every town hall, with every policy passed or budget submitted. Every day we have to fight to realize the vision of our founders, a nation that is truly free for every person.

To be a true patriot is to love this country through the good and bad times and continue to shine a light on injustice so that we’re all able to achieve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
