Happy Fourth of July, TX-17! I hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a safe and joyful celebration as we mark the birth of our great nation. Today also kicks off the countdown to America’s 250th birthday in 2026, a chance to reflect on our remarkable history and the values that define us. I’m proud every day to be an American and honored to serve you in Congress.

GATX Tour

On Monday, I had the opportunity to tour the GATX facility in Hearne, building on our recent conversation in Washington. GATX plays a vital role in our region by providing high-quality, skilled careers and contributing to the strength of our local economy. TX-17 is proud to have one of the most capable technical workforces in the nation, supported by our outstanding colleges and training programs. It was impressive to see the railcars in production and witness firsthand how companies like GATX are keeping American industry competitive on the global stage.

Congressional Veteran Commendation

Our community is home to many veterans who continue to serve through leadership, volunteerism, and civic engagement. Do you know a veteran making a difference here at home? My office is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) to honor those who have continued their service beyond the uniform. Visit my website for more information on how to nominate a deserving veteran in TX-17.
Legislative Highlights

BIOTech Caucus
I’m proud to serve as Vice Chair of the BIOTech Caucus, where I’ll work across the aisle to promote policies that drive innovation, expand research, and create high-quality American jobs. The biotechnology sector is vital to our economic and national security, and it’s our responsibility in Congress to foster an environment that allows American innovation to thrive.

H.R. 1→ One Big Beautiful Bill Act
I voted YES to prevent the largest tax increase in American history. I am pleased to see this important legislation moving forward with Senate revisions that maintain the priorities of preventing a return to the Obama-era policies of higher taxes and excessive government spending, while protecting American taxpayers. Additionally, this legislation secures critical reimbursement to Texas for Operation Lone Star and extends the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, which is tasked with rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs. This is a major step toward protecting taxpayer dollars, securing our border, and putting hardworking Americans first.
