It’s been 249 years since the United States declared independence.
249 years later…
* We’ve yet to achieve equal access to the ballot;
* We’ve yet to achieve equality for all;
* And, we’ve yet to achieve freedom for all.
Team, on this Fourth of July, we’re thinking about the work ahead to push our nation towards a more honest and inclusive pursuit of freedom.
It’s on us to keep fighting and to protect the sacred freedom to vote — especially when we’re up against legislation like the SAVE Act, a desperate attempt by MAGA extremists to block millions from voting and evade accountability at the ballot box. It’s both unsurprising and shameful that we’re seeing copycat bills at the state level.
These pieces of legislation are designed to silence Black and brown communities, an already historically marginalized voting bloc. We simply cannot and will not allow the far-right to advance their extremist agenda.
Every single one of us has the right to freedom — the freedom to vote, to make choices about our bodies, to live authentically without discrimination. While right-wing extremists wage attacks on each of those freedoms as they also claim to celebrate “independence,” we recognize that the road ahead will be long and steep.
Fair Fight Action, alongside you and tens of thousands of others, is deeply committed to ensuring our country lives up to its potential. We will fight for a future where all of our communities are liberated.
As we reject efforts to push authoritarianism in the U.S., we will continue to build a foundation to sustain a truly multi-racial democracy that works for all.
In solidarity,
Fair Fight Action
