Team – Today, on Independence Day, we are reminded of one very important concept: freedom.
At Roe Your Vote Virginia, we believe that freedom should include this fundamental human right: The ability as individuals to make decisions about our own bodies without interference from politicians who think they know what’s best.
That is why we are working so hard to pass a constitutional amendment to protect reproductive rights in Virginia and to safeguard the fundamental right to abortion access for future generations.
However, anti-choice extremists are trying to block access to reproductive health care – including every single VA Republican running for executive office this November. Just look at the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor, John Reid, who stated he would vote “no, no, no” on enshrining voting, marriage, and reproductive rights.
Protecting reproductive rights through a constitutional amendment is not just a political issue. It’s a moral imperative to safeguard freedom and dignity for all Virginians. Without this protection, reproductive rights remain vulnerable to shifting political landscapes and the whims of elected officials who could impose restrictions or outright bans on abortion.
This amendment is not just about protecting the right to choose – it’s about defending the broader values of privacy, bodily autonomy, and freedom. Thank you for joining us in this fight.
