Hello Supporter
Join us at our free, online event with the National Railway Museum!
When: Wednesday 16 July, 9am to 11.30am
Where: online
Who: Campaign for Better Transport and the National Railway Museum - everyone welcome
What: a symposium exploring the past, present and future of transport campaigning
I'm delighted to invite you to this event exploring the evolution of transport campaigning, Supporter. I will be chairing, and the speakers will include Stephen Joseph, our former Chief Executive of 30 years, as well as current transport campaigners and National Railway Museum archival experts.
Beginning with an exploration of Campaign for Better Transport's 52-year archive, which the National Railway Museum is currently working to catalogue, the symposium will go on to explore the work of other organisations campaigning on transport issues today.
Campaigning has helped to shape transport's rich history. For instance, in the 1970s, under our old name of Transport 2000, we helped see off plans to halve the British Rail Network from 11,000 miles to just 5,000. I am looking forward to exploring the impact of campaigns like this, as well as high-profile anti-road campaigns, bus campaigns and more.
