LET’S PREPARE: HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE, AND READINESS SAVES LIVES

[6]

As we begin another hurricane season, I want to speak to every
household in Miami-Dade County with a simple message: Prepare now.
Don’t wait.

Yes, we’ve been fortunate in recent years. We’ve experienced near
misses and glancing blows, such as Hurricane Michael in 2018, which
became the first Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in U.S. since
1992.  But this string of relative calm is not a reason to let down
our guard. If anything, it’s a reason to renew our commitment to
preparedness—because when it comes to hurricanes, it’s not a
matter of if, but when.

FWC: MANAGING FLORIDA’S BLACK BEARS NOW AND FOR THE FUTURE

[30]

The Florida black bear is a true conservation success story. The
population has increased from just a few hundred bears in the 1970s to
over 4,000 today, with the four largest subpopulations all showing
positive annual growth rates. There are over 17,000 square miles of
high-quality bear habitat, and almost half of it is protected through
easements or public ownership.

FLORIDA’S HB 683 USHERS IN NEW ERA OF CODE REVIEW: MIAMI-DADE’S
STRIVE305HUB LEADS WITH INNOVATION

[33]

On June 13th, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 683 into law.
Among its notable provisions, the bill authorizes private providers to
utilize automated or software-based review systems to assess
compliance with building codes such as the National Electrical Code
and the Florida Building Code. What does this mean for Floridians? In
short, it signals a shift—allowing the private sector to outpace
local governments in regulatory innovation.

WHY GEN Z TRUSTS RIDE-SHARING: AND WHY PARENTS SHOULD TOO

The thought of your child hopping into a car with a stranger can be
terrifying. There are headlines about fake drivers, horror stories on
social and mainstream media, and that nagging parental instinct that
says: just pick them up yourself. For many parents in Miami-Dade
County, the idea of their middle or high schooler using Uber, Lyft, or
another ride-share service feels risky.

So why are so many teens relying on it?

Let’s break it down. In a large, spread-out county like Miami-Dade,
where friends might live in...

THE KEY TO SAFE AND SATISFYING INJECTABLE TREATMENTS: OPEN
COMMUNICATION AND CLEAR DOCUMENTATION

In this edition of our Q&A column, a patient writes to Dr. Wolf
expressing some confusion about the wide variety of facial fillers
offered at different practices. Having visited several facial plastic
surgeons, dermatologists, and med spas, they’ve encountered
differing products each time and are curious about the reasons behind
the variations. The patient asks: “Should I be worried if one uses a
different filler than another?” Dr. Wolf explains why this
variability exists and how.
