Hey John,

With Independence Day here, I’ve been thinking a lot about what really holds us together—not just the flags and fireworks, but the deeper promise of this country: unity in the face of division, hope in the face of fear, and courage when our democracy is under attack.

Six months after a violent mob stormed the Capitol, I stood at Gettysburg and said something I still believe with every ounce of who I am:

That attack wasn’t just on a building—it was on the soul of our democracy. And while the insurrection made headlines, the quiet, relentless attacks haven’t stopped—they’ve just moved to courtrooms, statehouses, and voting booths across America.

Today, MAGA extremists are still working to divide us—to silence voters, gut our rights, and pack the courts with judges who answer to billionaires and the Federalist Society. They want to drag us backwards. But we won’t let them.

I’ve been busting my ass to fight for working families, stand up to greedy corporations, and make sure every community—Black, brown, rural, urban—is heard and protected. It’s hard work. But we’re tougher when we’re united.

Let me be clear:

- We need to expand the Supreme Court.
- We need to end the filibuster.
- We need to defend democracy like our future depends on it—because it does.
I refuse to one day look my grandkids in the eye and tell them we didn’t do enough when we had the chance. I won’t live in a country where hate marches freely and justice is reserved for the privileged few.

This is our moment. This is our mission.
If you believe in an America that includes all of us—join me.
