Dear John,

On Tuesday 1 July, Senators Whitten and Stacey officially began their terms in the Australian Senate, representing Western Australia and New South Wales respectively. Senator Malcolm Roberts also commenced his third term representing Queensland, marking his second re-election under the One Nation banner.

For our new Senators, the week began in Canberra with what’s known as Senate School, a full induction into the workings of the Senate. It’s an intensive week focused on learning parliamentary procedure, hiring staff, setting up offices, and getting systems in place to hit the ground running.

Alongside this, the One Nation team has been finalising how all Senate offices will work together, setting up clear lines of communication, shared resources, and coordinated workflows to ensure we operate as a united force.

Each of our Senators is creating a dedicated website, which will be the central hub for sharing policies, news, political updates, and blogs. These platforms are key to keeping the community informed and engaged.

Both Senator Whitten and Senator Stacey have already made it clear that rural and regional Australia will be front and centre of their advocacy. From rising freight costs and unfair farm gate prices to layers of red tape that strangle small towns,  the bush never gets a fair go, and they’re determined to change that.

Senator Pauline Hanson has also reaffirmed her focus this week on ensuring all parties involved in Native Title claims are treated fairly. Most Australians would be shocked to learn that Aboriginal claimants are funded by the Commonwealth, while local councils, farmers, and other respondents are left to fend for themselves. That’s an outrageous imbalance, and it’s the result of a Labor change that One Nation is determined to reverse.

The groundwork laid this week is critical. It ensures our Senators are equipped not just to understand the machinery of Parliament, but to use it effectively to fight for the issues that matter to everyday Australians.
