Hey John, it's
David Hogg.

We have to ask ourselves: How do we build a Democratic Party that the
working class wants to vote for?

Because right now, we're facing a real problem.

Millions of people are leaving blue states and moving to the South, where
their votes are gerrymandered and suppressed out of power.

We say we want to win back the working class. We say we want dramatic
change.

But then we turn around and expect to do all that without changing who’s
in power.

That's not going to work.

The cast of characters that brought us here are not who’s going to get us
out of here.

If we’re serious about saving our democracy, if we’re serious about
becoming the party of the people, not just the lesser evil — then we need
to start acting like it.

That’s why Leaders We Deserve is building a healthy, people-powered
culture of primaries.

We believe that being in office for 30 years shouldn’t mean you get to
coast through the next 10 without a challenge, especially not in the
middle of a crisis.

We are a democracy. We are the Democratic Party. We need to have a healthy
culture of ensuring that people, including incumbents, can be challenged
in primaries — and it’s not looked down on. It is embraced and celebrated.

We’re not doing this to be divisive. We’re doing this because our party
has to dramatically change if it wants to survive and win elections again.

We need to tangibly show voters why we are not the least bad of two
options, but why we are the best option. Period.

And that’s not going to happen with the same insiders spouting the same
empty talking points year after year.

We need a new generation of leaders — with new ideas, new energy, and the
courage to tell voters the truth and actually earn their trust. And yeah,
that might make some folks in power uncomfortable.

But guess what? That's the point.

Comfortable people — especially comfortable people with power — do not
change. And right now, it is time for a change in management.

This is a moment of crisis. We cannot keep tiptoeing around the truth.

Our democracy is being dismantled in broad daylight. And if we don’t meet
this moment with urgency, courage, and new leadership — we will lose.

We have to change this culture and truly embrace democracy within our
party if we are going to find our way out of this. Because no single
person has the answer — but I can assure you, a healthy culture of
competition is something our party can only stand to benefit from.

At Leaders We Deserve, we’re not afraid to shake things up. We’re building
the bench. We’re challenging the status quo. And we’re backing the kind of
young, bold, progressive candidates who have the guts to do what this
moment demands.

But we need your support to do this work. We can only keep changing the
game with folks like you stepping up to power our grassroots movement.
