Hi John –
Well, they did it.
House Republicans just passed their disastrous Big Ugly Bill, or as we like to call it, the Republican Rate Hike, which includes:
* Billions in giveaways to Big Oil and polluters
* Gutting of the clean energy investments fueling good-paying jobs and lower energy costs
* Rollbacks of climate protections that safeguard our air, water, and health
It’s a massive and dangerous step backwards for our climate movement, which means that the stakes for 2026 couldn’t be higher. So, let this be a call to action for us all:
The campaign to take back the House and stop this agenda starts today. [[link removed]]
Chip In → [[link removed]]SEEC is the largest coalition of pro-climate champions in Congress, and they’re only as powerful as their numbers. Right now, our members already make up nearly one-fourth of the House ( see the full list here [[link removed]] ), but that was not enough this year.
Electing even more SEEC members in 2026 means that as a voting bloc, they can easily block harmful legislation, check special interests, and put our climate policy back on track: to a greener future where the U.S. can lead on clean energy and use scientific data to lead decision-making again. The alternative is far too bleak: dirtier air, more extreme weather, dwindling endangered species, and more record-breaking heat waves. Here at SEEC, we say: not on our watch.
Remember: the clean air and water, conservation of public lands, and accelerated climate research that our nation enjoyed before Donald Trump was not built by just one president or member of Congress. Environmental progress was made by pro-climate actors on every front, all working toward the same goal. What happened today is just one stepback – a major one, to be clear – but it does not have to define our climate future.
Let’s get to work and build the ranks of SEEC members in 2026. [[link removed]]
More to come,
David @ SEEC PAC
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
