AJP Action Demands Follow Through on the Ceasefire, Unfettered UN/Humanitarian Access to Gaza, and Palestinian Self-Determination Dear Email, President Trump recently announced that Israel has supposedly accepted the “necessary conditions” for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. This ceasefire must not be another mirage. Israel has already shattered previous agreements and launched renewed bombing campaigns during supposed “pauses.” Any legitimate ceasefire must be honored in full, without loopholes or backdoor military operations. If Israel violates their commitment to a ceasefire again, then it is well overdue for the U.S. to stop acting as its diplomatic bodyguard and start enforcing real consequences. After more than a year and a half of relentless genocide, well over 60,000 (conservative estimate) Palestinians have been confirmed to be slaughtered in Gaza, including more than 500 just this last month while seeking aid. The Palestinian people cannot afford another round of false promises, manufactured delays, or deceptive ceasefire schemes designed to justify continued killing under the guise of diplomacy. Humanitarian aid must flow through the United Nations and international humanitarian agencies, not through the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” (GHF), which has become nothing short of a death trap for starving civilians. Haaretz has exposed GHF as a U.S. and Israeli-backed front for an ethnic cleansing operation. According to the report, Israeli forces have killed over 549 Palestinians and injured more than 4,000 at food distribution points, using live fire, tank shells, and mortars to create “killing fields.” The UN and Doctors Without Borders have denounced GHF as “slaughter masquerading as humanitarian aid.” Palestinians must not be made to choose between hunger and death. Any genuine humanitarian corridor must comply with the principles of humanity, impartiality, independence, and neutrality. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has rightly called GHF’s operation “inherently unsafe,” adding, “The search for food must never be a death sentence.” If President Trump is serious about ending this genocide, which he continues to characterize as a “war,” his administration must stop funding the mercenary-backed GHF, open all crossings for UN aid, and force Israel to lift its inhumane blockade on food, water, medicine, and fuel, in compliance with both U.S. and international humanitarian laws. Hospitals across Gaza have shut down life-saving services due to fuel shortages. According to the UN, more than 90,000 women and children require emergency treatment for malnutrition. Gaza is on the brink of mass starvation—created and sustained by Israeli policy, enabled by American weapons, and whitewashed by American diplomacy. Furthermore, no foreign entity, neither Israel, the U.S., nor regional governments, has the legal or moral right to dictate Gaza’s future. Only the Palestinian people can decide their political future and rebuild their homeland on their own terms. Any attempt to exclude Palestinians from those negotiations, or to impose a Western-designed postwar framework, is a continuation of colonial violence. This moment is pivotal. The U.S. cannot continue underwriting Israel’s war crimes and gaslighting the world with empty ceasefire headlines, and must start taking accountability and let Palestinians live with dignity.
