Stronger With Immigrants

Dear Friend,

Thank you for all you do to make our world a better place. Your support for welcoming and just communities matters. Your generosity is making a difference. Thanks especially to all who donated to our recent Refugee Response Fund matching gift challenge. Because of this support, AFSC is better equipped to provide legal services to immigrants in our communities, distribute humanitarian aid to refugees and displaced people around the world, and advocate for a just and dignified immigration system.

I’m also writing today to update you on AFSC’s work to mitigate harm to immigrant communities, which includes our Stronger With Immigrants campaign [link removed] . This campaign is mobilizing supporters like you across the country to meet urgent needs.

One example comes from New Jersey, where AFSC is conducting Know Your Rights trainings [link removed] to prepare community members for interactions with immigration enforcement. We are also training staff from service providers like schools, health care facilities, domestic violence shelters, food banks, and county agencies.

With generous support from supporters like you, we have trained staff from nearly 300 service providers this year! This is creating a network of protection that extends far beyond immigrant communities themselves. In addition to providing information about immigrants’ rights as individuals, we help providers understand their own constitutional protections and responsibilities.

I’m also happy to share that AFSC’s New Jersey program has received the 2025 American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) New Jersey Chapter Pro Bono Champion award. [link removed] This annual award honors individuals and organizations for their dedication to providing pro bono expert immigration legal assistance to underserved members of the immigrant population in the U.S. The New Jersey team assists about 2,000 people each year.

Thank you for joining us in this important work. Whether you have donated, joined us in advocating for policy change, or voiced your solidarity in other ways, your partnership makes a difference. Together, we will keep working for an immigration system that is welcoming, dignified and fair - and a future where all people can thrive.

In solidarity,

Amy Gottlieb
U.S. Migration Director
