Warren for Senate

The Republicans in Congress who voted for this historically bad, deeply dangerous bill should be ashamed of themselves — but we know they won’t be.

The hundreds of millions of Americans who will be worse off because of this awful bill should hold those Republicans accountable — but they only will if you make sure they know who did these things:

Republicans in Congress are taking health care away completely from millions of people, and making it more expensive for tens of millions more.

Republicans in Congress are transferring wealth from the working class and middle class to billionaires and big corporations.

Republicans in Congress are spending tens of billions of dollars to expand the unconstitutional kidnapping, trafficking, and confinement of people who’ve committed no crime.

Republicans in Congress are making sure that more people who are barely hanging on financially finally go broke, that more hungry children have even less to eat, and that sick people pay more to get care — or if they can’t, they just get sicker and die.

America doesn’t have to be this way — and it’s important to remember on days like today that most Americans don’t even want America to be this way:

  • Less than 200 days into his second term, a clear majority of Americans disapprove of what Trump is doing — the only president who has ever been less popular is Donald Trump in his first term.
  • The 50 senators who voted against this bill represent tens of millions more Americans than the 50 who voted for it.
  • The razor-thin majority that lets Republicans control the House was decided by a little more than 7,000 votes scattered across three districts in Iowa, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. That’s certainly no mandate — and when asked today a clear majority of Americans disapprove of them, too.

The majority of Americans don’t want this. And in less than 500 days a majority of Americans will be able to speak up and loudly reject Republicans in Congress in the midterm elections.

I promise you: I am going to work every day to make sure the American people know who did this and hold them accountable.

Today is a bad day for America, but a good day to renew that promise to yourself: stay in this fight.

In solidarity,
Elizabeth Warren
