It will result in countless deaths of Americans and our neighbors being snatched off th John, Republicans in the House just passed their “One Big Beautiful Budget Bill” and it’s now off to President Trump’s desk to sign into law. The budget will kick millions of Americans off of their healthcare with historic cuts to Medicaid. At the same time, the bill hands some of the richest people in human history massive tax cuts. This bill is not designed to help the majority of Americans pay their bills or improve their standard of living—it is designed to literally sacrifice the poor to create more wealth for the rich. It also cuts funding for Pell grants, which offers up to $7k in tuition assistance to working-class families. This will disproportionately impact community colleges from a faculty, student and staff perspective, and in IL-9 we have two community colleges: Oakton Community College and Truman College. The bill also will also result in more masked ICE agents snatching our neighbors off the street in our communities. ICE’s budget is now larger than most countries spend on their entire military. This is a terrifying and unprecedented expansion of the American police state. This budget is a declaration of war on the American people on behalf of MAGA billionaires and special interests. It will result in countless deaths of Americans and our neighbors being snatched off the streets and disappeared by the federal government. This is by far the most destructive budget that Congress has ever passed, and it’s the consequence of our Congress being completely bought by billionaires and corporations. This bill *should* result in a massive backlash against Republicans and a massive win for Democrats in the upcoming 2026 midterms, but only if Democrats expose the horrendous consequences of this bill and more importantly, offer a better vision for what our nation can be. That is the essence of my campaign, fighting MAGA with the fire & brimstone required of this moment and offering a vision of a more affordable and peaceful America — one where working class Americans can live with dignity and hardworking immigrants can continue to contribute to our communities without fear of being kidnapped off the street by a masked white supremacist with a badge.
