Today, the House passed one of the cruelest and most destructive bills in American history (by the tiniest of margins), Climate Champion.

Thanks to just 50 senators and 218 representatives, energy bills will go up for everyone. Clean energy projects will get cancelled and the nation will not have enough electricity to meet exploding demand. Climate pollution will go through the roof and as climate-fueled storms, floods, and fires become more dangerous, millions will lose their health care.

All to benefit a handful of billionaires and wealthy "oiligarchs.” We didn’t ask for this.

This is a day to be furious. A day to feel betrayed by our leaders.

But it is not a day to despair. Our road became harder today, but it still goes forward.

As former Vice President Al Gore points out, moves like today’s bill may delay the clean energy transition in this country, but they cannot stop the inevitable.

Here in the US, our focus moves to cities, states, and businesses capable of achieving rapid reductions in emissions and accelerating energy transition – with or without the Trump Administration and other federal support. Because what this fight has shown us is that the tide is turning.
