New Pennsylvania Project

Fellow activist,

Recently, Republicans in Congress voted to pass the budget reconciliation bill, also known as the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.” This bill shows us clearly where the priorities of the Trump regime and the GOP lie.

This bill includes the most significant cuts in U.S. history to Medicaid and SNAP, as well as other critical programs and services that millions of people in Pennsylvania rely on. In fact, they voted to strip away health care and food assistance from tens of millions of people in our country and hundreds of thousands in our state. This budget puts working families directly in the crosshairs while billionaires and trillionaires walk away with fatter pockets.

To put the impact of this bill in perspective for Pennsylvania:

  • Two million adults and 1.4 million children rely on Medicaid.
  • 400,000 seniors use it for long-term care.
  • Two million Pennsylvanians depend on SNAP to afford groceries.
  • Medicaid cuts could cost the state 49,000 jobs and wipe out $5.3 billion in economic activity.

If this bill is signed into law, all of these programs will be slashed, making it more difficult for families to make ends meet. The kicker? Republicans voted to add trillions of dollars to our national debt.

All of this is happening so they can give massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy who don’t need it. This will be arguably the worst bill to ever be passed in America’s history.

We always like to say that a budget is a moral document – and anyone who voted for this bill should be ashamed of themselves. Trump’s Big Un-beautiful Bill will have real-life consequences for the people of Pennsylvania, and we need to continue to organize to fight back.

This is just another example of why it’s so critical that we engage our centered communities on the ground and make sure voters understand the role that elected officials play in their everyday lives. Help us engage our centered communities by rushing $25 or more today →
