As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we remember the bold vision the Founding Fathers had for a free and democratic nation: one where government derives its power from we the people, not religious beliefs.
Today, that vision is under threat.
Christian nationalism is on the rise. Lawmakers are invoking religion to roll back rights, undermine science, and erode the wall between church and state. This is not the America our founders envisioned.

Since Trump’s inauguration, the Congressional Freethought Caucus, which unites members of Congress in defense of the separation of government and religion, has grown by 10 members. Back in March, our supporters came to DC and lobbied against the Educational Choice for Children Act, a federal voucher program that would divert taxpayer dollars to private, religious schools. We've also joined forces with other organizations to march, raise awareness, and push back against the harmful policies coming out of the Trump administration, including the just passed budget bill.
