Trump’s big ugly bill has been passed.
I’m going to be very blunt with you. This bill is a disaster. It’s a national disgrace.
Millions of Americans will suffer as a result of sweeping cuts to programs that people rely on. Families will have to decide whether they can afford a doctor’s visit or put food on the table. Rural hospitals will be forced to close. Experts say tens of thousands will likely die. Really.
And the most disgusting part of this Republican attack on children, seniors, and those who are struggling in our country is that billionaires and huge corporations will gain the most through humongous tax cuts.
So, despite all his rhetoric about bringing down inflation and the cost of living, we now see Trump’s real agenda: No health care for the poor. No food for kids. More yachts, mansions, and private jets for billionaires like Trump.
And that’s not even mentioning all the other misguided policies hidden in this bill, including the elimination of industry-changing clean energy credits that I led the passage of in the Senate.
Helen, I’m sure you’re as outraged as I am. Honestly, “outrage” doesn’t even begin to capture how we’re feeling.
But remember my motto: Don’t agonize, organize.
This ugly bill may become law, but Trump and the far-right are not gods, or even dictators (although they would surely like to be). We have the power to build a massive opposition movement. We have the power to vote them out. We have the power to take back our democracy from the far-right and undo this damage. But it’s going to take hard work from all of us to build this civil uprising.
Please, chip in to my campaign today and commit to fighting back. We need to build a powerful movement that hammers home our message each and every day and shows the American people that Republicans have betrayed the working class of America.
