That would effectively zero out federal funding for public broadcasting—destablizing, if not dismantling, a public service with a proud record of asking tough questions and reporting what the powerful want buried. The Senate is expected to vote by mid-July.

The fact is, this funding cut has nothing to do with saving federal dollars. It’s all about silencing voices and punishing perceived enemies in the so-called liberal media.
