Hi John,
Yesterday, the fight against animal cruelty at Trader Joe's escalated.
Two brave DxE activists, Carla Cabral and Ani Kandada, were arrested after taking bold, nonviolent action to once again demand that Trader Joe’s cut ties with Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry—a company caught engaging in horrific cruelty to animals and serious public health risks.
*At Trader Joe’s Headquarters in Monrovia, CA, Carla superglued her hand to the front desk,* demanding a meeting with the company's top executives. Her message was clear: Stop selling chickens from a supplier where birds have been found with necrotic wounds down to the bone, unable to walk, and suffering without care.

Just hours later, at the original Trader Joe's store in Pasadena, Ani superglued himself to the refrigerator holding victims from Perdue's Petaluma Poultry. He now faces a felony vandalism charge —for a protest that hurt no one and left nothing damaged, while the real, violent crimes continue behind closed doors at Petaluma Poultry.
Yesterday's bold actions follow years of documentation by DxE investigators exposing illegal animal cruelty at Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry farms and slaughterhouse. We’ve sent reports. We’ve protested nationwide. Still, Trader Joe’s refuses to act.
*Now is the time to keep the pressure on. Please join us in speaking directly to the decision-makers.*
👉 *Contact Trader Joe’s President Bryan Palbaum* by emailing him at
[email protected].
Ask him to immediately cut ties with Perdue's Petaluma Poultry and take a stand against animal cruelty.
Cassie
