Happy Father’s Day!
This is a day to celebrate and honor all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures - uncles, coaches, mentors, big brothers, teachers. You’ve all had a pivotal role shaping the lives of young people who’ve looked up to you. You’ve nurtured, taught, encouraged, supported, protected, and loved a child. You’ve made your share of sacrifices to make a child’s life better. For all of that, we are grateful.
My dad is a noble man, one of quiet strength and dignity. I often try to imagine how he must have felt when he decided, at the age of 34, to pick up his young family and travel to the other side of the world to start a new life. He and my mom left the only country they’d ever called home to immigrate to the U.S. with a singular determination to make the American Dream a reality for their two young children.
His life has been a reflection of his courage, his devotion to his family & friends, his warm generosity, his commitment to hard work, and his tender heart. After my mom passed away, he tried hard to fill the void she left. He is the father who is always there to listen and comfort. He is the grandfather who got down on the floor with his young grandchildren, playing games and building forts, and remains their most trusted confidante and loudest cheerleader. He will never know just how much he is loved and cherished.
I’m blessed to have found a life partner who is as devoted to our children as my father was (and still is!) to his. From toddlerhood to young adulthood, our three kids have been blessed with a dad who radiates a fierce love for them within his calm, protective disposition. On any given day, Kishore is most happy just being with our family. I love watching him with the kids – animatedly sharing his endless sense of curiosity, adventurous spirit, or passion for physics with them. My heart is full with the blessings of these two incredible men in my life.
We all know that families all across our nation are facing health and economic challenges on many levels right now. Our thoughts are with all of the dads who are working hard, juggling many roles, giving it their all, trying to be the best of everything their families need. They are worried about their families’ futures given our current public health and economic crises. We know there are many who are struggling right now, and we keep you close as we navigate these times together. To those who are missing someone today, may you know peace in your hearts.
I sincerely hope today has brought all fathers time with those you love, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of their love for you. And a good nap, of course.
Happy Father’s Day! Take good care and be well.
Warmly,
Hiral
