Tomorrow, many of us will take the day to reflect on the ideals stated in the Declaration of Independence.
“... all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
The ideal of liberty was not extended to all in 1776. Throughout history, we’ve worked to expand our democracy to include more and more people in the freedom to vote. The freedom to vote means having a say in our state and federal leaders and our laws.
VoteRiders carries the American dream forward by working to ensure that all eligible voters are free to participate in political and civic life, even in the face of laws requiring an ID to vote.
We know IDs also enable access to stable housing, employment, health care, travel, and more, giving people the freedom to control their lives.
Patriotism means fighting to ensure the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are a reality for ALL Americans.
Recommit to protecting the freedom to vote. Let’s work together to expand voting rights, educate voters on what ID they need to vote, and help them get an ID to vote and to access the services they need to lead fulfilling lives.
