This week, Senate Republicans passed the worst budget bill in modern American history.
This bill takes away health coverage for nearly 200,000 Marylanders. Hundreds of thousands of Marylanders could have a harder time affording groceries or keeping the lights on.
My team and I are facing this moment of crisis with courage to protect Maryland. At a time when the federal government is attempting to sever ties with its people, Democratic governors are on the frontlines of defense. So, that’s why I have to ask:
You know, Thurgood Marshall Day was this past week in Maryland. And, as the famous Supreme Court Justice once said, “democracy cannot flourish amid fear, liberty cannot own amid hate, justice cannot take root amid rage and America must hit its work.”He was dissatisfied with the status quo and traditional solutions to persistent problems. He knew that the time to analyze the problems was over. We must take a page from his book.
With so much at stake, we’ve got to activate the fierce urgency of now that Justice Marshall fought for until the day that he died.
We must start facing our problems with action.
Thank you for standing with us,
Wes
