Legislative Update
Good morning,
We are launching our newsletter one day early this week as we celebrate our nation’s 249th birthday tomorrow on July 4th! This is a day for remembering the great sacrifices our ancestors made as they chose to turn against the King of England and bravely fight for independence while creating a new nation.
As we safely celebrate, I just want to mention a couple of the many great events occurring in our area. I hope to see many of you at the Blooming Prairie Old-Fashioned 4th of July parade, Waseca LakeFest at Clear Lake Park, and on July 5th we will be attending the Great American Kites Show at Farmamerica, just to name a few. In addition, please enjoy the fireworks at the Steele County Fairgrounds and all the other great events in our area. In addition, I just want to recognize and thank our volunteers who work so hard through the year to organize these events and keep our traditions alive and growing each year!
Finally, it is important to remember all the attributes that make our Nation and the State of Minnesota great!
Last Saturday, Jeanne and I attended Mark and Melissa Hortman's funeral service at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis. This was a time to reunite as fellow legislators and share in the sorrow of the horrible events of June 14th. We heard many great stories describing the individual attributes of Melissa and Mark. While we all serve our constituents in different ways, we must remember that we all love Minnesota, and we want to do the best we can to serve the people of Minnesota!

In addition, I want to thank all of you who continue to reach out to Jeanne and I see how we are doing. We sincerely appreciate your concern and support as we are committed to continuing to serve House District 19B, the citizens of Minnesota, and our Great Nation.
Please enjoy a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday weekend!
