John,
At this very moment, Republicans are strategizing a power grab in Ohio and Texas.

Both states have a long history of Republicans gerrymandering. That’s why the fair maps movement has identified Ohio and Texas as two of this year’s most consequential states when it comes to fair representation.
In a moment, we’re going to explain everything that’s at stake in these two critical states, but if you’re already convinced, will you make a contribution to our emergency response efforts to ensure we can respond rapidly against late-breaking threats to fair maps? [[link removed]]

Let’s talk about why it’s so important to pay attention to Ohio and Texas right now.
In Ohio, lawmakers are in the process of redrawing its congressional map under the same system the GOP used to craft the current gerrymandered map. The Republican-controlled General Assembly could approve another unfair map, which means as many as three Democratic seats could be stolen by Republicans.
In Texas, as the fair maps movement fights in court to secure fair representation for communities of color in multiple congressional districts, Republicans are assessing whether to hold a special legislative session to initiate a mid-decade map redraw. The move could expand their majority by five additional seats.
But this goes far beyond Ohio and Texas, John. If Republicans are successful in passing extreme, gerrymandered maps before the midterm elections, they stand to unfairly win congressional seats that could help them maintain control of the U.S. House where they can continue to rubber stamp Donald Trump’s agenda.
We need all hands on deck to take on this critical battle for our democracy. And we need to be prepared to respond whenever there are attacks on fair representation. Will you rush a donation to our emergency response efforts to help stop future attempts to manipulate maps in Ohio, Texas, and across the country? [[link removed]]
Thanks for being a part of this critical work,
