Dear John,
As fireworks light up the sky this Fourth of July, we’re reminded of the ideals that define our nation: liberty, justice, and the pursuit of a better life. But for millions of immigrants, these promises remain out of reach.
At the American Immigration Council, we believe that America is stronger when we embrace our diversity and uphold the rights of all who call this country home. This Independence Day, we’re asking you to stand to uphold the promise of America.

Here’s what we’re up against:
* The Supreme Court just weakened protections for birthright citizenship , allowing harmful policies to take effect in some states but not others—creating a chaotic patchwork of rights based on geography.
* Tennessee passed a law that criminalizes compassion, making it a felony to shelter undocumented people—even family members or asylum seekers.
* The Trump administration is increasingly targeting students in their mass deportations, detaining teenagers on their way to extracurricular activities or at their immigration court hearings.
* The threat of CBP and ICE interference with the FIFA Club World Cup is creating fear and confusion among international fans and immigrants alike—casting doubt on whether America can truly host the 2026 World Cup in the spirit of inclusion
This isn’t the America we celebrate on Independence Day.

This Fourth of July, let’s celebrate not just our freedom—but our responsibility to ensure it’s shared by all.
With gratitude,
Jeremy Robbins,
Executive Director
