Dear John,
We are calling on all moral activists and moral leaders across the movement to call their members of Congress TODAY to demand they pass a moral budget!
The U.S. House will likely vote this week on the President’s Big Ugly Destructive Dangerous domestic policy bill, which would authorize the largest cuts to America’s safety net, stripping Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and other vital services from millions of poor and low-wealth Americans.
We cannot stand down!
Use our Poor People’s Campaign call-tool to call your member of Congress TODAY and demand they reject policy murder and legislative evil.
JUNE 30TH MORAL MONDAYS IN D.C.

This Monday, Repairers of the Breach co-led a Moral Mondays In D.C. prayer-protest-rally alongside impacted people, faith leaders, and other moral activists. Dozens were arrested for praying and protesting outside the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court. Fifty-one caskets were brought to D.C., which represented the 51,000 people who will die next year if the proposed cuts to healthcare pass this week.
Many impacted people spoke out against the President’s Big Ugly Destructive Dangerous domestic policy bill, including Chris Shumake and Elaina Hurley.
Chris traveled from Alexander County, North Carolina, with pastor Joel Simpson to share what it would mean for him to lose Medicaid. “I just finished high school and I’m doing auto technician systems training in August. I’m relying on Medicaid and SNAP to help me continue my schooling. If I don’t have it, I’d have to go to school and worry about not being able to eat that day… If you can’t eat, you can’t focus.”

Elaina is with the West Virginia Poor People's Campaign and traveled to D.C. to share about how these cuts would hurt her and other impacted people across the nation. "I was receiving Medicaid until I did what state and local representatives said to do: I went to work. And they pulled a whammy on me. I lost the medicine that made it possible for me to work."

Bishop William J. Barber, II, President & Senior Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach and National Co-Chair of the Poor People's Campaign, also spoke on Morning Joe this week about why it’s critical that Congress reject the President’s dangerous legislation.

Please take a moment today to call your Member of Congress and urge them to do the right thing and pass a moral budget.
