John, some good news, some bad news, and a message from Mary Gay.

The good news? I’m feeling so proud of this team. You showed up when we needed you this past week to help us send the GOP a message about our strength via our (very) public FEC report. Not to mention, your support will directly fuel our summer organizing expansion as we work to connect with voters here in PA, and Mary Gay is so, so thankful.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate, you still can here.

The bad news? Yesterday, the Senate passed Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” or as Mary Gay calls it, the “Big, Bad, BS Bill.” Mary Gay and her Dem colleagues in the House and Senate worked tirelessly to stop the GOP’s once-in-a-generation theft that strips healthcare and food assistance from tens of millions of Americans (most of them children, the elderly and the disabled) to cut taxes for the 1%. That is not the America we’re fighting for.

Last night, the legislation headed back to the House Rules Committee, where Mary Gay fought for over 12 hours overnight as dozens of Democrats filed over 400 amendments in an attempt to stop the worst of this devastating bill. But Republicans refused to accept ANY amendments, and now it’s on to the House floor today for a high-stakes vote where Mary Gay will do everything in her power to stop this from going to Trump’s desk as Dems encourage just 4 Republicans to do the right thing.

We’ll keep you posted as this next stage over the BBB unfolds in the House. In the meantime, I thought you might be inspired by this letter Mary Gay wrote for our team to reflect her gratitude, the seriousness of this moment, and to inspire us to keep going in our work.

Mary Gay's letter: Team,
It’s been a heavy few weeks, hasn’t it? Just part of another exhausting month and relentless year, with constant chaos and threats coming from the Trump administration, Congress, and the world.
Among many things, I’m absolutely bewildered, as I’m sure you are, by the Senate’s passage of the big, bad, BS bill. The fear, the horror, and the anger are felt in this office, by our constituents calling desperately for answers, and by our entire country. We’re committed to fighting like hell against these authoritarian attacks while preparing for what’s coming next as the fight returns to the House.
It’s difficult to focus on any good, any mundane tasks, and any hope when things seem this dire. I wanted you to know that I feel it too, and I’m with you here to hopefully offer some solidarity and comfort.
What we are seeing at times feels like an unrecognizable version of our country, but we have the distinct privilege (and oftentimes, burden) as holders of this democracy to lead the fight against all authoritarian forces. We have the responsibility to stand up and fight back for what we can be, for the promise of America, and for the rights and safety of everyone within our borders.
I know that many of you wonder whether you would have had the courage to stand up during unprecedented moments in history. Your constant support and bravery show that you do. And that uproar is the start of a movement that is desperately needed. So I wanted to thank you and let you know that you can feel proud and hopeful knowing that you are actively doing your best for your country and our democracy.
YOU are unstoppable and encourage me every single day.
.

We are truly so grateful,

Luke
